Message from the Executive Artistic Director
I hope you are doing well and are able to enjoy some quality time with your families during this difficult time.
Our Board Of Directors and staff have
been closely monitoring the situation in regard to the Coronavirus
(COVID19) and have begun to make plans for how our upcoming summer
season will proceed. We feel strongly that Gateway will have a vital
role to play in bringing joy back to our community, and return some
normalcy to our lives.
With that in mind and to allow a little
more space before our season begins, we have decided to postpone our
opening by 4-weeks. Evita will open on June 3rd, followed by Next to Normal on June 24th, Matlida on July 15th, A Gentleman’s Guide on August 5th,
and the opening of Newsies will stay the same, August 26th. Individual
ticket sales for all shows will begin on Tuesday as scheduled. For our
season ticket holders, we will let you know the new dates for your
performances.
In light of the current situation, we have made some important policy changes:
- All Internet and handling fees waived through April 12th.
- For all tickets purchased prior to June 3rd, we will offer free exchange privileges all summer.
- If a show or performance cancels due to a government guideline, we will offer a gift certificate, ticket exchange, refund, or a tax-deductible donation.
Walk up sales have been suspended, but our
phones are open. We ask for your patience as we work to accommodate your
ticketing questions. Since we are minimizing on-site staff, you can
email your contact info to us at boxoffice@thegateway.org and let us know if you would like a call back or an email reply.
If you have tickets and are unable to
make it to a performance, I hope you will consider converting your
ticket purchase to a donation. This would support Gateway’s future in
this very uncertain and unsettling time. Our not-for-profit mission to
produce world-class theatre and educational programming, nurture
inclusion, and provide access for all is vital. Canceling and
rescheduling performances causes severe financial strain to our staff
and artists; your contribution means more now than ever.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters.
Sincerely
Paul Allan
Executive Artistic Director
