Pinkalicious is now playing at the Argyle Theater in Babylon Village from January 26th-February 24th.  Directed by Kate Keating, this charming children’s theater performance will captivate and entertain pink lovers of all ages!

Based on the book series of the same name written by Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, the vibrant young protagonist is no stranger to a colorful story! From ruby and cerise to bubble gum and amaranth, no shade goes uncelebrated as young Pinkalicious Pinkerton, played by the bubbly and entertaining Emily Durand, seeks out an extra helping (or two) of her favorite snack- pink cupcakes!  But we all know that too much of a good thing can be no good at all, and Pinkalicious learns this the hard way when she wakes up one day having turned pink herself! Although very happy at first, she soon learns that moderation is key, and needs the help of her family, especially her brother Peter, played by the charming Matt Paris, to get her back to her normal, slightly less pink, self.

In a sit down with Director Kate Keating after the show, she emphasized that this story is perfect for kids of all ages, as it is written especially for children, and showcases the main events of the story from a youthful perspective.  Kids will find the plotline fun, funny, and easy to understand. Meanwhile, there are moments for the parents to enjoy as well. I, in particular, appreciated the story’s messages about moderation, and how no one should be afraid or ashamed to love what they want to love!  Although there were a few sound issues in the middle of the show, the cast was undaunted, and delivered an entertaining performance which kept the young audience fully engaged. The show was interactive as well, and involved the characters moving through the aisles during various scenes, which the kids loved!

Parents can also feel good about taking their kids to a theater that focuses a lot of time and energy on giving back.  This new theater has partnered with Good Samaritan Hospital, and takes the time to visit the Pediatric Center with each new children’s theater cast (in costume, of course) to visit with the patients, sign autographs, and hand out free tickets! According to Keating, the cast feels so blessed to be a part of this outreach, and she stated that, “It has been so wonderful watching my cast brighten up everyone’s day and spirits there.  We all adore these special moments where we can make a difference within our community. We truly feel so lucky to have such a fantastic relationship with Good Samaritan Hospital.”

So if you want to support a local theater that values altruism, then pack up the kiddies and head to Argyle Theater this month to see an adorable show brought to life by a dynamic and talented cast!
