The Christmas season is in full swing, and what better way to celebrate than by heading to the Engeman Theater in Northport with the whole family to see a true holiday classic- Frosty! Directed by Richard T. Dolce, this endearing, and very child-oriented show is playing from November 23rd- December 30th.
This version of Frosty’s story follows Jenny, played charmingly by Danielle Aliotta, as she seeks a friend to play in the snow with in her hometown of Chillsville. She makes a snowman with her Mayor Mom, played so sweetly by Nicole Weitzman, and places a scarf around his neck for warmth. Well- “there must have been some magic in that old silk scarf they found, for when they placed it round his neck,” well, I’m sure you know how it goes! And all seems swell, that is, until the sinister Ethel Pierpot appears, played by Courtney Fekete in a fashion that makes being bad look good! She reveals a plan to change the weather in Chillsville and get rid of all the snow- forever! Will she do it? It’s up to Jenny and Frosty (and an entire audience of kiddies) to stop her!
The cast does a wonderful job of making this show fun and interactive! The Narrator, played by the energetic Kevin Burns, has the audience laughing and singing along almost as soon as the show begins. He adds humor to various scenes with his animated antics, lively reactions to plot twists, and even a sombrero at one point! Likewise, Matthew Rafanelli keeps the youthful audience engaged with an exciting version of one of their favorite holiday characters, which is impressive considering his costume has only one facial expression!
This heartwarming rendition of Frosty is a great time for all ages! The cast is funny and fun from start to finish, and they keep it going with autographs and pictures in the lobby following the show. Be sure to take your little ones to see Frosty before he has to “hurry on his way”!
